

MUSCAT: Oman and Somalia have stepped up efforts to deepen cooperation in food security and investment, as senior officials from both countries held high-level talks in Muscat.
Discussions took place during a meeting between Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who is on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The talks focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in food security, alongside broader efforts to exchange expertise and strengthen economic ties.
In a parallel engagement, Abdul Salam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, met with the Somali minister and his delegation to review existing partnerships and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Both sides identified a range of promising investment opportunities across key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, logistics, food security and information technology.
The discussions underscored the importance of enhancing economic and investment partnerships, with a focus on activating the role of both public and private sectors in driving joint initiatives.
Officials also highlighted the need for sustained coordination and knowledge exchange to support long-term development goals and deepen economic integration between the two countries.
